Studio 15 Volume Increase
I am hoping someone can help me with a slight problem with my Studio 15 Laptop which I have Vista Home Premium installed.
Most time when I boot up the volume automically increases to 100%. Despite efforts to bring bring it down to at least 50 it still keeps raising to 100%. The irritating blue volume status symbol keeps coming up on my screen and now I can't even open the volume mixer at all to lower the volume.
Any suggestions will be welcome! I'm at my wits end here :emotion-7:
Thanks all.

Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:
All I can suggest for now, is downloading/reinstalling the latest audio drivers off the Dell website?

Have the same issue..
Its not just the increase of volume, but sometimes the eject button starts glowing, and it thorows out the DVD inserted.
Also, the mute button stops working at times.. .
Any solution to all these issues with the Media control panel?

Hello,
Try to install quick set, from dell www.
If it does not help it may be the touchpanel failure - contact dell support

This is a common and known problem with ALL Dell Studio 15 and 17 laptops. It is NOT a driver, Operating system, battery, hinge cover, or software problem. It is also not a cable connector problem. If Dell tells you to try any of these, just say yes but it doesn't work. The problem is with the design of the buttons and/or the firmware/BIOS. Dell refuses to acknowledge the actual problem or offer a permanent solution. I keep forgetting to check the volume and music BLARES in the middle of the night or early in the morning when I boot it up.

There is a Firmware update on the Dell support site that will resolve this problem. I do not have the link but try google
The touch controls on my Studio 1537 have worked perfectly since installing the update and I had all the same problems as others prior to the new firmware install.

I did a search and this site claims to have solved it by deleting the driver for sound. I just did it but cannot test til the AM.
