System Idle Process?

I noticed that my hard drive was running even when I had nothing loaded and was not running anything. In task manager it only shows AVG. running, and System Idle Process. System Idle Proicess is using 15-20 pecent of CPU. Is this normal? I think not. What can I do? This just started this morning.

The system idle process should be using 99-100% or your cpu when you computer is completely idle. if only 15% is on the idle process, something is using 85% of your cpu time on something else. I would imagine your antivirus is running a passive scan(checks the drivers randomly for virus activity) which would fit with the cpu use and hard drive activity.
