Dell G5 5590 - One of three USB ports does not recognize any USB 2.0 devices as a mass storage

Hello,

I have a strange problem that I tried all solutions available on internet before posting this. I have Dell G5 5590 bought in May 2020. Everything was working fine until week of 12the April, 2021 - where a windows update might have messed one of my USB 3.0 port up.

Problem:
My laptop has three USB 3.1 Gen ports. After the recent windows update - only one of these three USB ports started having a strange problem.

This one port on right side of the laptop can detect all   USB 3.0 devices  without any problem. However this specific port does not detect any of my   USB 2.0 devices  - like my old flash drive, my old mobile as a storage device, my wireless USB mouse, my USB 2.0 OTP generator device provided by my employer, etc. - anymore..! These USB 2.0 devices are working fine in other two USB ports of my laptop. This problematic port, however, can charge USB 2.0 devices(e.g. my old mobile).

I believe it has something to do with one of the following updates:

I have already tried following:
  • I have all drivers - including chipset, bios, etc. - up-to-date as per
  • I have tried to update, uninstall/reinstall USB drivers in 'Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus controllers' for all "Intel/Nvidia USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controllers"all "USB Composite Devices" and all "USB Root Hubs (USB 3.0)".
  • I have logged into bios and run hardware diagnostics where no problem was detected.
  • I have finally reset/reinstalled Windows 10 via 'Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery -> Reset this PC'. I have tried installing fresh copy of Windows 10 both from laptop's recovery partition as well as from Microsoft cloud with an option to remove everything and a deep clean.

None of above helped and it appears that latest drivers for   "USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller" with version 10.0.19041.662  and/or   "USB Root Hub(USB 3.0)" with version 10.0.19041.964  coming from Windows 10 is causing this issue.

I am happy to roll-back the drivers but I unfortunately have no previous installation of Windows anymore that I can use to roll-back. I am also not able to find any previous version of USB drivers compatible with my laptop from internet that I can download and install manually.

I know this is very weird problem. Any help or direction for this problem will be really helpful as most of my USB devices are still USB 2.0 compatible.

Thanks in advance.
