2001FP Power Cord replacement trouble PLEASE HELP!
hi all,
can someone please help me? I just bought a 2001FP LCD monitor. Its great. But recently my basement got flooded and the power supply got ruined. I needed a replacement ( one power brick and the cord). So I figure i'll call dell and get a replacement.
So i call and after an hour i think i have the right part. I had the tech support guy verify my monitor and that the power brick and cord were compatible. I had the tech support guy give me the part numbers and repeated those exact numbers to Dell sales. I thought that was it. boy was i wrong.
When the ups truck guy came i got a monitor power cable for a standard monitor! But I figure mistakes are made and I certainly was not angry. I called back customer support and explained the situation. After another hour of verifying the parts, I thought the mistake would be corrected.
Fast forward to today. The ups guy dropped off 2 boxes, which was a good sign. Then when i open the box i see that these parts are for some other device because they certainly are not the parts that i need for my 2001FP! I just sent an email to customer support because I have given up on phones. What is the problem? is it that hard to get a power brick and cord? Is there any other place i can buy this power brick and cord? or can anybody direct me to a person (not the 1 800 number PLEASE!) who can sell me the right part? Please help. My 800 buck monitor is sitting collecting dust. I simply cannot believe my situation. One mistake can happen. 2 mistakes is unacceptable. would really really REALLY appreciate any help or advice.
Thank you.

krakshot,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Try emailing support@dell.com and have them send you the parts.

jesse,
thank you for replying to my post. actually the 2nd time i did it thru email. the problem is they say that the power brick and cord IS THE RIGHT MODEL for the 2001FP. but when i get the invoice it is for the 2000FP and thus is incompatible. the input to the 2001FP has 4 pins. The input to the 2000 apparently is just a hole. SO FOR SOME reason every time i call sales or go thru support, i keep getting the 2000FP power brick NOT THE 2001 one. I dont understand why this is the case. and i KEEP SPENDING 10 hrs getting tranfered between sales and customer service! PLEASE HELP ME!
thank you.

krakshot,
Edit your user profile and add your system service tag number so that I can look up the monitor information from you account and hopefully get you the correct part number for the power brick you are needing.

krakshot,
Well, I found these part numbers. You can call the spare parts department and give them these numbers to see if they can get it right. The number to call is 1-800-372-3355.
