2007WFP RevA03

FWIW, the new one is a Rev 03!! model (made in Czech Republic), and if my eyes can be trusted, the banding is MUCH worse than on the ones I had before (all Rev 02)
Has anyone else recieved an A03??

ChrisM, can you provide any information on this revision?

felipe_s appears to be located in Europe, they could have different revisions there.
See this post, two of his monitors were manufactured in the Czech Republic: http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_monitor&message.id=63689#M63689

It would make sense from logistical point of view that from Mexico to usa and from Czech to EU.

Anyone mailed to Dell about this?

Did the A03 guy use some other than desktop mode? It would be incredibly stupid move from dell to unfix banding.

All,

I have not received any notice of a A03.

I suppose they might very well be using different revisions for the EU market, but then, the Chinese built monitors are sold both in the US and over here.(?)
With that in mind, of course I was refering to the Desktop mode, as this is the one that we're being told should be free from banding.(and mine is not)

Thanks for posting the pic. I'm sure many 2007WFP owners will be wondering what this means.

edit: OK, now we have a 2407WFP rev A03: A03 for the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP is out

LOL. That sticker looks so dodge (not saying A03 or your monitor is dodge or anything). My A02 sticker is much smaller.

Regarding the sticker, usually its part of the sticker with the serial number. If it is an A03, they must have made the change after that part was produced. Though considering I have an A02 and it works well as far as I can tell, I'm wondering what they changed.

ChrisM

Any doubts about the A03 revision existing for the 2407wfp can be put to rest thanks to dctokyo. Here are the pics of his 2407wfp A03.

MANY of us 2407wfp owners are anxious to see what this revision addresses and see if it fixes the numerous outstanding problems the A02 made progress on, but still are not fixed.

1.Can you get us a list of fixes for the A03?

2. For those of us with A02 "still" experiencing problems (as pointed out in other threads) can you facilitate a return for a A03 or at the very least allow us to send in our A02's for a flash upgrade?

Thank you for the feedback!

heya, i think the banding issues are identical between the 2007 and 2407 even tho they use different panels, however they seem to use very simular if not the same hardware to drive the panels. I feel that 2007 and 2407 can be both talked of in the same sentence when it comes to banding and that the 2407 is getting all the attension. the poor lil 2007 gets lost in all the 2407 problem threads out there.

help save the 2007wfp fund, pls donate your time and effort to help unhappy owners of this display to get some justice :)

I don't think the problems with the 2007wfp are nearly as bad as the 2407wfp... there are enough differences to make the distinction necessary.

That doesn't sound like banding to me... it sounds more like your backlight isn't uniform? Forgive me if I'm just misunderstanding, but banding is when you should have a smooth gradient of colors, but instead of appearing as a gradual change from one to the other, it seems to be broken into several wide single-color chunks, somewhat akin to what a less-than-full-color screen would do if it tried to display the gradient. Note that in the dark portion of gradients, minor banding is visible but generally has to be examined fairly closely to be apparent, and this seems to be standard for LCDs, as far as I can tell.

EDIT: Sorry, I did misread you. Can you take a picture of your monitor when it's doing what you see?

Are you sure you're using the Desktop mode? Gaming and Multimedia modes still have banding, but that's because they are designed for stretched-non-native-resolution games and movies, where any banding may not be as noticable.
