2407WFP, broken power button

Hello All, The power button on my 2407WFP monitor is broken, it won't depress any more. Well, it sort of stays down. Luckily the monitor is stuck being on, so my only options at the moment is for the power saving to kick in (I leave my computer on 24/7) or switch to another input where I have something else plugged. Since I didn't purchase this with a system, I don't have a service tag number for it. Does any one know if my only option is to call in? or is there a way for me to do this online, I mean via email or online chat? Thanks.

I have literally just run into exactly the same problem. The power button is broken in the on position which is fine although i'm wondering what will happen to it when the power is turned off at the plug...

Did anyone find out what we could do? I have no service tag either as I also bought it without a system. I can't seem to find out how long the warranty on it is either.

If you unplug it and plug it back in, it will remain on. I think I will just go ahead and call customer support this weekend.

Seems to be a common problem on this monitor. I remembered reading about it some tme ago. A quick search of the forum led me to a post by a user "chickenjack" - I quote it below:-

"I am having the same problem and am interested in how you faired in getting help. If they are sending you a replacement, and you are out a monitor, try this:

I can get my power button to work if I put my finger on it, rotate it so that it is pointing up again, and THEN pushing it. This may take a bit of finess as you can't put much inward pressure on the button and have it rotate. As far as I can tell, the button has come loose and since it has rotated, something inside has come out of alignment, so pushing it has no effect. If you realign it, it will work. At least mine does."

    I hope this helps

I have the same problem with my 2407WFP monitor. It is only about 1 yr old. My solution was to put a clear piece of packaging tape over the button to hold it in place. It's hardly noticable, and works great!! Hope that help this annoying problem for everyone.

I had the same problem, but just fixed my DELL monitor. The power button had gotten stuck / would not work. Follow these instructions at your own risk. Warning! Monitors carry high voltage! Unforeseen injuries could occur!

    1) Unplug the monitor
    2) Disconnect from PC
    3) Disconnect base from monitor
    4) Remove 4 screws on back of monitor
    5) Gently tug at front plastic frame around monitor as it will give way (gentle!)
    6) Remove 5 small screws from monitor button board. You will probably see a very small piece of plastic that has broken off. I used a small piece of hard, thin paperback and taped the broken plastic piece to it. I had to cut the paper back in a small square shape so that it would fit into place. This part takes the most time as you need to figure out the best way to tape / fix this piece back on. Pressing the power button should turn it back on
    7) Assemble is reverse of disassembly

    JerryUK,

I ran into this problem but was able to solve it using your post. Thanks for providing the information.

One variation. I used a pair of tweezers to rotate the switch.
