DDM 2.X, missing separated hotkey for multiple monitors - big step back
Hello,
So, the lack of separated hotkey for multiple monitors is a big step back in DDM 2.X vs. 1.X. I read the discussion about it from 2022 (DDM 2.0, missing separated hotkey for multiple monitors) and I find Dell’s reply disappointing. Their new solution to move mouse cursor to the monitor for which you want to change the source is a real downgrade. In the previous software version, you were able to have different shortcuts set for different monitors. What about a situation where you have multiple monitors and multiple sources (more than 2 in each case), you switch between them, and you simply don’t see where your cursor is because content from a different source is displayed. What about situation when you want to have a hotkey switching between USB-C and DP on one monitor but on the second between DP and HDMI for instance. DDM 1.X could manage those scenarios while DDM 2.X can not. This is another instance of developers downgrading the software, ripping it of the functionality and trying to tell you that it is an improvement. Dell should bring back this functionality to 2.X.

I used to use the 1.5-app. That did the work great.
Unfortunatly, one of my U2421E died this week. The other U2421E showed also some "strange behaviour" so I had to replace both.
To continue with my work, I purchased two of the same type again. Unfortunatly, with version DDM 1.5 I get continuously a message within Windows "please use DDM 2.0".
So I installed v2, but have a serious problem with it.
I have 2 laptops connected to two displays. So the setup is like
Laptop private (W10pro/64)-> USB U2421E(1) -> DP U2421E(2). DDM v2
Laptop company (W10pro/64) -> USB U2421E(2) -> HDMI U2421E(1). No DDM (It is not allowed to install any software on this machine).
So with the new DDM 2 I can't switch the monitors with the hotkeys anymore. I have to do this manually with the knob on the monitor. OR I have to accept the pop-up message "use DDM 2" with using v1.5.
And if one monitor is @sleep, how am I supposed to wake it op again with "bring the mouse to the monitor and use the hotkey"? It is off! Black. Dead. No mouse of course.
Or if the 2nd monitor is on, and finally the app responds (it is much slower then version 1.5) the mouse jumps to the screen of the laptop and have to move the mouse all over the other monitors again for the next input-change-attempt.
I hope some developper from Dell wakes up and adds the option again for different hotkeys per monitor.
