DDM, U3818DW, U2723QE, multiple versions

Hi

I had some older screens including the U3818DW which was running fine with Dell Display Manager version 1.x

I bought some newer screens now U2723QE for which I had to install Dell Display Manager version 2.x

Version 2.x does not recognize my old monitor the U3818DW anymore.

I use my laptop in various locations with these different screens but now cannot split the screen on the U3818DW anymore.

Any tips to resolve this?

The six year old U3818DW was only validated up to DDM 1.56.2110. You cannot force it to use the newer monitors DDM 2.x.

ok so you are saying i have to get rid of the old u3818dw as it cannot be used on the new display manager or is there an option to use 2 display managers on the same laptop so i can continue using the functionality on the "old" display?

I do not think it would be possible to run two versions of DDM simultaneously. Dell has never tried this. You do not need DDM to still use both in a MST daisy chain configuration so I would not get rid of the U3818DW. But you may have some need for DDM that might force you to upgrade them.
