E152FP backlight turns off - solution

Question

I recently bought a 15 inch dell LCD (E152fp) off Ebay for $10+ S&H. The seller stated the problem with the backlight. I didnt care I was going to rip it open and build a projector with it. So I got this VGA only flatpanel and I hook it up to my computer. I plug it in, the dell logo and test pattern come up for a second and the backlight turns off. (just like the ebay guy said it would). I plug it into my comptuer to test it anyways, it comes back up for a second and then the back light goes out again. So I'm sitting in the dark shining a flashlight at the screen to make out the menu. I reset to factory defaults. then I lower the contrast to like 20 and the brightness to 0 I then turn it off and then turn it back on, and to my suprise it stays on. I then try the factory defaults again, and it blinks and the back light goes off. I start over, lower the brightness and contrast, turn off the monitor and turn it back on and it works. It seems that if the brightness and contrast go over ~74 the backlight will turn off. Yes, I know this is a cheap/old/small/etc. lcd, but it seems to be a common issue for this model and I'm sure someone is looking for a fix.

This worked for me as well...  my numbers were a little different...  Brightness <20 and contrast can be anything.  It's workable.  thanks for the heads up.

Thanks, lowering the backlight in the bios worked.. i dont have the same brand as you, i have a vostro 1500. that did the trick. thanks
