E1705 Display

I can't get web pages to fit my whole screen size.  The internet explorer toolbar/screen takes the whole screen, but the web page itself looks like a 13" screen size.  Any help?

Seems you do not have the resolutions set to its native.   Go into display properties to see what its set to, and if you can change the resolutions from there.  Might be a video card driver issue as well.  What video card if any do you have ?  May have to reinstall the video card driver, than reset if necessary the resolutions in display properties.

Thanks - that filled the screen, but it's blurry.  Do I have to settle for one or the other?  It was set to 1440x900 and I changed it to 1024x768.

Depending on the screen you got.  The WUXGA native resolution is 1920x1200 and the WXGA is 1440x900.

Should have ClearType turned on, and the dpi set at 96 dpi as well.  Setting the resolutions lower than native will not for most a good viewing experience.  Some individuals have less than perfect eye site, so lowering the resolutions may help a little for them.

Don't know what happen to your screen the first time. Perhaps a driver was corrupted.  Maybe you should uninstall the driver, and reinstall it again for the video card you have.  What video card if any is installed on the system  ?  Integrated or dedicated one  ?

Many webpages are badly authored and have fixed widths in terms of pixel count. As a result, they will fail to fill the full width of high-resolution displays, especially widescreen high-res displays. Dell's forums are a good example of such a misauthored page - they don't even take full width on an old 1280x1024 monitor, let alone any modern widescreen display. Try http://slashdot.org/ - does that take up the full width of your screen? (It should, it's coded to make use of whatever space is available.)
