E2222H DP, Latitude 3520 HDMI, not working

I have an almost new Latitude 3520. Brand new Dell 22 E2222H 21.5 inch monitor. Laptop has a HDMI port. Monitor has what I guess is a DP port. Cable that came with the monitor is DP to DP. Went and bought a HDMI to DP cable. All hooked up and powered on. Monitor display says "No VGA signal from device". Found the menu on the monitor and switched to DP and monitor display says "No DP signal from device". Monitor menu has 3 choices: Auto, VGA & DP. I can "check" VGA and DP. When the menu selection opens, Auto is highlighted, but not checked. Menu selection won't let me "check" Auto.

A PC HDMI out port cannot UPCONVERT to a monitor DP in port.

Latitude 3520 video out ports = HDMI 1.4, USB-C/DP

E2222H video in ports = DP, VGA

You will need to purchase a standard USB-C to DP cable.

Latitude 3520 USB-C/DP out port --> USB-C to DP cable --> E2222H DP in port

Thanks Chris. Although one would think that two virtually new Dell products would be compatible out of the box.
