I have three FP2000's (not attached to the same machine!). One has developed a fault whereby it works perfectly for a period of time, and then the screen goes blank - the power light remains GREEN, so it is not in power-saving mode. At this point no screen display will occur - including the menus. The input buttons will change the input source light, but the display remains blank. If I power the diaply off, it will almost always display correctly when powered on again.
This can happen any time from a minute after power up, to many hours. It happens both during use, and when the system is idle.
It "feels" like an overheat problem - but the timing, plus increased cooling around the display make me think may be not.
The problem will occur with both Analog and DVI, and regardless of image source (Dim 3000 built-in, ATI Radeon XT600 DVI, non-Dell machines with NVidia built-in).
It seems to be a hardware fault - but I noticed some comments on the net about firmware upgrades having been provided directly to users of early FP's. I also noticed in searching today that there appear to be displays with the same issue for sale on eBay - is this a 'common' or 'known' fault - if so, is it a hardware fix ? And what would it cost to get this fix out of warranty ?
Try resetting the monitor using the osd controls. You can also make sure that the power management options in the control panel are all set to "Never" turn off monitor or harddrive.
I am having the same problem with my FP2000. It will operate for a while (the duration varies), then goes black with the green power light and input light. I can adjust the input but it has no effect on the screen. The menu will not come up. When I power off and back on, the monitor works fine until the next blackout. I've reset to factory settings several times but the problem remains. Is my monitor toast?
