Monitor catching fire

Has anyone else had this happen?
It happened to my son tonite.
He came home and his PC monitor (dell) was on fire!
It was turned off at the time, so not like it overheated.

Pictures would be great. So was there smoke and fire? Or was it more of a burning smell?

Give me a break. You have got to post pictures or a fire department investigation report if you want us to believe you. An LCD spontaneously catching fire is a little much to believe.

    Update
    Deal with Dell for sure.
Okay, I had to wait on hold for half an hour, but they actually cared.
They asked about peripheral damage, injuries etc.
They are giving him a new monitor and want the old one so they can determine the cause.
    Very impressive.

I think if you are going to post something like this you need to provide the model # and pics ASAP. Normally this kind of thing wouldn't phase me, but with Dell's recent woes...

About as many detailed answers forthcoming from Susanve as there are from the Forum itself. Leads me to think that she could be a suitable candidate for employee of the month....

Maybe its a W3000 with a "power supply issue". Seems that's getting some "attention" here.
