It is probably best to not allow the system to go into hibernation. Go into the power saving properties in the control panel and uncheck the box that reads to let the system go into hibernation. This feature is for portable systems to conserve battery life.
All of those choices are for portable systems to conserve battery life. It is best to not allow your desktop to enter into any of these battery conserving features.
Monitor: Dell 2000FP
Video Card: ASUS V9280 V56.72
I am having the same exact problem.
I have made sure that my power option settings do not allow for hibernation and that standby is set to never for everything (monitor, hard drive and system).
Intermittently the screen goes black...in order to restore the display I have to power off the monitor and power it back on.
Would you mind giving me the information on your driver. I updated my driver as well but am not convinced it's the latest. Is the updated driver for your monitor or video card or both?
I set all the Power Option settings so that there was no possibility the monitor would go into hibernation mode or the system would go into sleep mode.
I went to the dell site and downloaded the latest version (R56446.exe for Monitors: Dell 2000FP, Driver, Multi OS, Multi Language, Multi System, v.3.0, A03) of the driver for 2000FP dated 2/14/2003 (the one I was using was from 2001).
So far, I haven't had the problem. I hope that it helps you, too.
I think I have the most updated driver (the same one you posted a link to).
Do me a favor and right click on monitor in your device manager and then go to the driver tab. Compare what you have to what I show (see below):
Dell 2000FP(Digital)
Driver Provider: Dell
Driver Date: 8/13/01
Driver Version: 3.0.0.0
I know when you download the driver file (R56446) the driver file indicates it was created in 2/14/03, but I don't think that is when the driver came out. Am I right? I'm just trying to figure out if I have the driver you have. If I don't I want to try the one you have. I'm still having the same problem.
