Monitor must be shut down manually
THis is my third Dell computer
DEll Studion XPS with Dell ST 2210 monitor
When I select Shut Down the computer shuts down but the monitor does not shut down it merely goes into Powr Savine Mode and I must manually shut the moniltor down.
I have searched all Dell lmanyals, etc but no help
This is the first computer that when shut down all is shut down
Is there any way to make the moniltor shut down when puter Shut Down selected and not have to do it manually?
Thanks in advance

All of my monitors do this. They go to Powersave and the orange LED stays on.

Appreciate the reply Chris,
Then I asume there is no way except to manually push the power buton to shut off the monitor..
This to me is a sad state of affairs.

Why is that sad?
Modern monitors use almost no power when in sleep mode. The University of Waterloo tests PCs and said, "When power-saver mode kicks in (and the monitor goes black with a yellow indicator light) the power consumption is negligible to the point that our test equipment did not even register any power use."
CNET Labs tested a 22" Dell monitor and found a sleep-mode power usage of 1.35W. By comparison, the 7W night light in my kids' bathroom uses 5 times as much energy. A typical wall transformer (aka "wall wart") uses about 3W just by being plugged in without anything else connected.
