P3421W, DDM, CTRL + SHIFT remains virtually pressed

Hello,

When switching sources with CTRL + SHIFT + Z hotkeys, the CTRL + SHIFT remains virtually pressed. This can be observed with Microsoft On-Screen Keyboard. The importance of keys assigned is not important as it happens with other key combinations as well.

This issue was present in DDM 1.0, fixed with the release of the new DDM 2.0.0.135, then issue reintroduced with version DDM 2.1.0.45.

P3421W firmware version M2B207.

Steps to reproduce:

Make sure that DDM has the following configuration as depicted in the pictures below.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + Z between sources and notice that the keys remain pressed, to regain full keyboard functionality, CTRL + SHIFT needs to be pressed again.

Please fix this behavior. Note that this is not a hardware fault or keyboard fault, it is a software fault. This was tested with three different types of USB keyboards.

Thank you,
Eugen

Hi Chris,

I've reinstalled the old version 2.0.0.135 and it still occurs.
But there might be these factors that come into play:

1. CTRL + SHIFT is used by default for changing the language keyboard in Windows 10
2. If somehow the change occurs when the CTRL + SHIFT keys are still pressed. (transition to the other source can be fast or slow)
3. The other PC has the new version of DDU which force both ends to remain pressed.

As a baseline for troubleshooting, all PC's should be running the same version of DDM.

Was the issue present in DDM 2.0.0.134?

Assuming that you have uninstalled DDM 2.1.0.45 and reinstalled the working DDM 2.0.0.135?

Indeed, well I can say that this issue disappeared entirely when both PCs have version 2.0.0.135.

@DELL-Chris M will this issue be added to the backlog and fixed in the newer versions?

Thank you

* Clarify, when both PCs have DDM 2.1.0.45 installed, do you see the issue?

Yes

Also, when just one has version DDM 2.1.0.45 I can see this issue.

We do not have an ETA of a fix. Like you, we simply check the P3421W drivers page to see what versions are available. For now just use 2.0.0.135 on both PC.

After you press Z, the Ctrl and Shift keys must immediately be released. Are you perhaps lingering on the Ctrl and Shift keys?

Why does it matter when on version 2.0.0.135 this issue is not present?

Is CTRL + SHIFT + Z not a valid hotkey? From what I've checked it is after all accepted by the app.

Are you implying that I should change my behavioral tapping just to overcome this issue on newer versions?

It is clearly seen that on the latest version, everything takes too long to initiate by the KVM, but on version 2.0.0.135 everything is smooth like butter.

Any updates on the issue that I'm encountering?

Chris M is right, it's the lingering that does it. I've experienced this issue occasionally for the 18+ months I've been using DDM (version 1 with a U4021QW). Going back to the other input and coming back again with a swift, non-lingering keypress untangles it.

It is not normal to wait so much for a fix, it is after all a somewhat premium monitor...

Dell support is useless at this point, they seem to ask the wrong questions and the case is passed without knowledge transfer.

Here's an example

I honestly don't know what to think about it, seems that it is a big waste of time to get something fixed with dell here.

Unfortunately, it will be the last dell monitor that I will ever purchase.
