S2716DG, Pixel Inversion/Vertical Lines
Many people who have purchased this model(and this isn't the only monitor experiencing this issue) are met with something most are calling pixel inversion(also knows as vertical lines). This effect is clearly noticed during motion, and -somehow- may even be noticed during static images(if you scan eyes over the monitor in a particular way).
It is true, some do not seem to notice, and some may not care. However, I do, and I'm simply looking for an agreeable reason as to why these monitors are utilizing this effect or why these monitors are experiencing such a technical limitation.
More importantly, I want to know if we can expect such behavior from future monitor models with little to no information regarding this problem.

All Nvidia G-Sync monitors using the AUO (AU Optronics) panel have this intermittent out of sync problem. The result could show =
- glitch line on side of screen
- vertical line
- vertical pixelation
The following have all reported the issue =
Acer Predator XB271HU AUO M270DAN02.6
AOC AG271QG AUO M270DAN02.3
Asus MG279Q AUO M270DAN02.3
Asus PG278QR
Asus PG279Q AUO M270Q008 V0
Dell S2417DG AUO M238DTN01.2
Dell S2716DG AUO M270DTN01.5
Dell AW2518H
HP Omen AUO M270DTN01.5
LG 32GK850G AUO M315DVR01.0
Ideally, images should appear to be moving to the left or the right smoothly, but, the incoming data from the Nvidia video card gets out of sync and thus will result in unexpected vertical lines or vertical pixelation. This issue happens randomly when Nvidia G-Sync is enabled for either the Desktop or Gaming mode. This is due to a Nvidia G-Sync hardware (Nvidia G-Sync scaler IC board) design limitation. Replacing the cable nor the monitor will not fix the issue. Nvidia has to release to Dell a fix for its Nvidia G-Sync scaler IC board.
Workarounds =
* Pause the game or activity, toggle a resolution change from optimal to anything, then back to optimal, un-pause the game or activity
* Monitor power off, then on

You should post a video showing us this issue on your specific S2716DG after you have reset it using the OSD (On Screen Display) -Others -Factory Reset. We also need all of the information asked for here.

Okay, I just want to say that this is a common issue with new displays(I don't think it's limited to just AUO panels), and mostly the ones featuring Freesync/G-Sync. This is effect is present on all models sharing the same panel, and you will notice it as "Alternate Bright and Dark Vertical Lines of Pixels". The effect can also be configured as horizontal lines or a checkboard grid. If you're still curious what I am referring to, the PCMonitors review of this display has it listed as ‘interlace-pattern artifacts’.
There may be a couple exceptions: The 1440p 144hz IPS panels, and the AOC G2460PG, but my preference is still with TN panels and I actually prefer the Dell's color qualities.
I am just looking for an explanation for why this is seemingly an issue at all. In actuality, it may be that some people actually like this effect, but I don't yet agree this isn't an intentional effect primarily meant to reduce manufacturing costs, and that it can't be fixed.

So what can you do once you've confirmed your monitor has this issue? It keeps coming back with no fix in sight. I'm very disappointed with this otherwise very decent monitor. I didn't expect to pay more than 400$ just to have to keep turning the thing on and off every time I play games. Who should I contact if I want to be compensated for this defective product?

There will not be any compensation. The reported work around is to simply lower the resolution, then toggle back to 2560x1440. Or, if still inside the first 30 days from the Dell invoice date, you may return the monitor for refund.

Hey Chris. Your posts have been really helpful in the past while I've lurked here.
Wanted to throw in something you might have already seen. Acer claimed that they saw the issue because of a G-Sync firmware issue. It's on a forum, so maybe it's nothing; but wanted to bring it up in case you hadn't seen it:

Luckily for us Dell users, we can update monitor firmware ourselves. :-)
This happens on my Dell S2716DG every few hours after adjusting resolution or resetting. I'm still in 30-days, but I'm gonna keep at it because I really like the monitor. Like you said, it seems to be an industry issue.
Thanks for your time.
