S2721QS, no signal when switching inputs
When I switch Input Source from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, then back to HDMI 1, the S2721QS says there is no signal from the computer on HDMI 1.
The computer still says the Input is connected on HDMI 1, it is only the S2721QS that says there is no signal.
I have tried turning off all power saving option on the PC and in the S2721QS settings. I have also turned off power saving options in the BIOS to ensure the port isn't being switched off to save power.
In order to make it work I have to choose the 'Disconnect this display' option in Display Settings, then instantly revert the change when prompted and the S2721QS picks up the signal again.
I have tested the cables, they are all working fine.
How can I make sure the S2721QS still recognises the signal from HDMI 1 when switched to HDMI 2? It makes the option of switching inputs pretty useless if the input has to be re-connected when switching back anyway.
Thanks.

* Open the S2721QS Menu
* Go to Input Source
- If Auto Select is currently set to On, change to Off. Exit the Menu and retest switching Input Source from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, then back to HDMI 1

Hi Chis, thanks for the suggestion.
I tried with both settings, with both turned to Off there was no difference, with both turned On, the first monitor is switching fine now, but I am getting the same result with the second monitor.
When I switch the first monitor, the second one flashes. Not sure if that makes any difference.
Thanks.

d_an,
There may be an issue with the HDMI cable however did you also switch the cables on the Ports on the system as well?

I'm having the same issue and it's quite annoying. This is a brand-new display that I bought to replace a Samsung 27". Now I'm reconsidering. Please stop blaming the HDMI cable. I've swapped them a couple times with my S2721QS and this happens with known good cables all the time. Let's see if we can actually solve the problem here! It is incredibly annoying when I have to start work in the morning. My Samsung is more reliable right now. There might be an easy solution however.
Is there a display driver? Perhaps that might make a difference. (Off to have a look.) Thank you
Edit: Nope, not for MacOS.

This is for Mac users only:
After some more investigation, I think I've found a solution. The Dell monitor is fine, and the computer is fine, in pretty much all instances. The HDMI cable SHOULD be fine. However, try to make sure the cable itself is rated for 60hz operation. Also, if you are using a port replicator/multiport adapter, that may be the source of your issues even if everything else is fine, because those little grey boxes come from makers all over China and they are likely to use HDMI chips and circuitry that are NOT rated for 60hz. I lucked out and in a last act of desperation, I found a port adapter in my parts drawer that supported 60hz - by a pure fluke. It didn't say so, but it just did. When I connected everything, the Mac's System Properties automatically showed 60hz as an option for monitor connection. This fixed the flickering problem on two separate M1 Mac computers. My Dell monitor was probably having trouble getting a clean signal and refusing to sync properly because of problems related to the port replicator's HDMI port.
Possible solutions:
1) Absolutely get an HDMI cable rated for 60hz. They do exist. You can even get ones that are USBC-to-HDMI. I'm pretty sure all my HDMI cables are fine, however.
2) Connect directly to your HDMI port if you have one.
3) If you don't, and must use a multiport adapter, try to find one whose maker says its HDMI is rated for 60hz operation. If you can only get 30hz as an option on your machine for monitor operation, this is a dead giveaway that you have a defective port replicator and you'll have flickering problems.
