Monitors do not have power adapters, only power cords. Power adapters are for laptops with rechargable batteries. There are no batteries in a monitor. Read the specs here.

You might be looking at the HDMI cable connection, which requires a matching hdmi port on the video card and a HDMI cable. Or possibly the DVI cable connection.

branded34,

It doesn't look like that power adapter can be shipped seperately. I will ask the engineers.

I too am having the same problem.  I bought the computer on 7/13, received it 7/15 with no power adapter for the same monitor.  I called dell and they sent me the same cord as you.  I've called Dell no less than 6 times since and spoke to no less than 4 reps each time.  They all assured me that they will send out an adapter.  Two weeks later and still can not get a straight answer.  Nobody knows what they are doing.  They keep giving me Tech Support who says it is not their isuue.  I to am sooo frustraited.  What a bogus company.

branded34 and jimro1999,

Just to be clear, when you opened the box and removed the styrofoam, the only power cord was the one that plugs into the wall jack. You did not receive the part that plugs into the monitor?

I need the following in a private conversation -
Name:
Email Address:
Shipping address:
Phone number:
Monitor Order number or PC Service Tag number if purchased with a PC:
Monitor 20 digit PPID number found on the back on a label or on the slider card on the left rear:
Reason: SX2210 shipped without the power adapter

The box was a refurbished unit and was sent with no cords inside, just the monitor.  When a called dell the sent me a wall jack.  I believe this will not even fit the power adapter if I ever receive one.

You said it was refurbished. So was it a replacement? If yes, did the original have all of the cables? If no, did you buy it from the Dell Outlet site?

I had exactly the same issue.  I ordered the SX2210 from the outlet on 7/8, and received it a couple days later with no cords and a note saying "this is a REPLACEMENT monitor, so use the original cords".  I ordered it as a REFURB, not a REPLACEMENT monitor.  Not a problem if the SX2210 used a standard power cable, as I have tons of those lying around.

I did the same thing (called dell tech, spoke to 10 people), and they finally sent me the regular cords.  WRONG.

I called back, and 10 people later, I got some engineers.  They sent me a picture of the correct cord, and said they'd overnight one.  This is the correct one--->>>

The next day, I received a Dell laptop PB-10 power brick!  WRONG.  Looks similar, but no cigar.

See full size image

However, the next day I got a call from some nice guy at Dell, who promised to fix the issue right away.  He said he'd overnight the correct brick.

About 4 days later, I had received nothing "overnight", so I called back.  They had no record of the nice guy calling me (and I failed to record his name or Agent #), so they finally gave up and sent me a return label.  That day I gave up too, went to Staples and bought a Dell S2209 on super sale, and prepared to ship the SX2210 back.

Today, I finally recieved a box from Dell with the correct power brick in it!  Hooray!  The S2209 is nice, but I upgraded to the SX2210 for a reason.  Staples can have it back.   Good price on that, though.

Total time turnaround:  Ordered original monitor on 7/8, received correct power brick on 8/12.  I guess I'm patient...  but annoyed.

A couple fundamental issues:

1)  Dell obviously messed up, and shipped REPLACEMENT monitors as new REFURB purchases.  This is understandable, because Dell always ships REFURB parts when you need something replaced under warranty.  Complete failure of quality control, but understandable.

2)  Why in the world does the SX2210 use a power brick?  I'd understand if the thing were too low-profile to fit the power supply internally, but it's about the same dimensions as any other Dell LCD.  Aaarrgh.  What a silly engineering decision, with unforseen complications when Dell product delivery fails at their job, too.

Anyway, I'll finally be able to plug the SX2210 in.  I hope it transmists gamma-waves of pure joy and wonder at this point, I've been waiting for so long!  Thanks to the Dell tech people (especially the mystery guy who called me and sent me the right stuff, though he didn't "overnight" it as promised.).  No thanks to the engineers who designed an unnecessary power brick for a monitor.  No thanks to the packaging/shipping people who failed to send the brick in the first place.  No thanks to the remainder of the Dell organization who couldn't get it right either.

Dell used to have (pre-2003, give or take) great products at great prices, and great service.  Now they have great products at great prices, but woe betide you if you need service!   I understand this, and order anyway, because I can usually fix things myself.  However, this power brick stumped me.

I bought an sx2210 monitor because it was on sale at the dell outlet store.  The monitor arrived without any cords included including the power adapter. I called dell and they sent me a replacement. However, the part the sent me was for a regular power cord and not the one that was intended for monitor. I called again and spent 2.5 hours on the phone and got transferred  to 10 different people in as many countries. Nobody seems to know that the sx2210 monitor requires a special adapter to make it work. When I tried to explain what it is, they rudely told me that they already sent a replacement and the part number matched what  originally came with the monitor. I pleaded with them to pull up the owner's manual online and take a look at the power adapter used in the diagrams. They told me that they couldn't do it because they were not set up for it (WHAT!).  I finally got so frustrated that  I am returning the monitor with a strongly worded letter expressing my anger and frustration at how I was treated and wished them "well".   How can a big company like dell unable to find a right part for a product as simple as a power adapter to make their product work!!!???  And how did they get awards for their customer service when all they is is transfer you to somebody else  when they can't answer your questions???

I just recieved my Refurbished Dell SX2210 monitor that I bought from the Dell outlet store online and like some of the others, was sent only a standard power cord.  I guess I didn't need the super specialised power brick this monitor, for some odd reason, seems to require.  So far, I have spent about 2 hours on the phone with Dell tech support to no avail, what a surprise.  Is there anyone that works for Dell that checks this forum who can help me to some how get the correct power adapter??

SX2210 Power adapter / No Accessories Pack

I Can you please help me I have been waiting for nearly 4 weeks to get a power adapter, I have tried at least 6 different times to get some one in technical support / custmer support to send me a power adapter and I get an hours worth of runnarround of transfers and just plain bull. I am beyond tweaked about this.

Eash time someone in India tells me that they will get one sent and Still I dont have it after 3 solid weeks after it has come.

My order number is it was a replacement for an earlier model that went bad

I hope you can help me get this resolved.

Doug

Placed my Dell Outlet order Sep 22, 2009 and received my SX2210 monitor today. Like others in this thread, no power brick.

I went a couple rounds with the phone representatives and got them to ship me something other than part number 5120P ( standard USA PC power cord, who doesn't have at least half a dozen of these around their office?)

The phone representative ended up shipping me part number G638M, which at this point I can only hope is the right part.

On the bright side, all of the phone representatives I spoke with were polite and tried to be as helpful as possible, and I wasn't on the phone for more than an hour.

Also sent info requested to Dell-Chris M. Thanks for your assistance as well Chris. Looking forward to your reply.

The real bummer is I only discovered the missing power supply after 5PM on a Friday. I was really looking forward to using a nice new monitor this weekend after getting the delivery confirmation email while I was at work today. :emotion-1:
