This is not a OSD menu issue. I have already tweaked the color settings for several hours and i could not get them to match. I even used calibration tools and color sync but they didnt match either.

I even reset to factory settings. shouldn't the colors be the same when you reset to FACTORY SETTINGS?

Hi wordy,

The color settings can be changed by following the below steps:

(1)  Push the menu button to launch the OSD menu and display the main menu.

(2)  Push the 'up' and 'down' buttons to select the color settings.

(3)  Push the 'tick' button once to activate the highlighted option.

(4)  Then make changes using the  'up' and 'down' buttons and choose the desired setting and press button the 'tick' settings will be changed

Note: All the key configurations to be used on the monitor

wordy,

"I even reset to factory settings. Shouldn't the colors be the same when you reset to FACTORY SETTINGS?"
* No two panels even of the same model will look exact.

* We do not validate our monitors in a dark room. We use standard office lighting
* Dell monitors do not have 100% backlight uniformity specification. As long as the center 2" circle meets our manufacturer specifications, it is acceptable. If the Brightness and Contrast are maxed to 100 and you measure the brightness difference of any two points on the monitor, the difference will never be greater than 25%
* Dell monitors do not have 100% color uniformity specification. As long as the exact center 2" circle meets x=0.313 and y=0.329 (6500K), it meets our manufacturer specifications. So, the center may be 6500K, but the sides and corners may not which is why you may see that one side or corner is different than the others

" We do not validate our monitors in a dark room. We use standard office lighting"

-This is visible in standard office lighting. The lights are off so as to take a better picture.

"No two panels even of the same model will look exact."

- I am not a stickler for this color stuff.  Never touched the stuff until now (had 2 refurbished u2412m monitors beside my original before and never noticed this much of a difference ).  But the difference is noticeable in this case.

"So, the center may be 6500K, but the sides and corners may not which is why you may see that one side or corner is different than the others"

- Sides and corners? The whole monitor is like this.

Chris, I like this monitor, this is why i tried my best to get it to an acceptable level. But i didn't expect my concerns to be practically passed off as unrealistic expectations. Especially since dell doesn't put a warning on their site that the monitor colors can be different in the range of 25%

Got a very similar problem. Just bought 2 additional U2412M's to my a few months older one. The old one has a bit reddish hue and the new ones kinda bluish. Other colors aren't so problematic, but the whites stand out quite much.

Color calibrators are ... ~150€, more than half the price of one monitor. Any other suggestions here? It is quite hard to calibrate anything by hand... have tried for an hours and gave up.

The same issue :(

Just bought second Dell U2412M (the first was bought 1 year ago) and its color are darker  and so on, as on the wordy's photo. Very noticeable on white and light gray colors (this forum, for example).

Tried to calibrate it by hand via OSD menu, but it didn't make better.

Sorry get late on this topic, but i just got my second 2412m 4 days ago and im having a hard time with the colors and contrast. As the the topic owner, my first was from year ago but mine old is RevA02 Sept/2011 and Looks like the New one of the pic ... the Second one is revA00 Jan/2013 and looks like the Refurbished one.

The Worse thing is the guys from Dell here in Brazil dont even know what to say, i tried 3 different calls and is the same ... they all got lost.

I'm late to this topic as well, but might be able to provide some helpful information to you all - I'll start by telling my similar story - own a U2412M that was purchased in 2011, REV A02. Just last week purchased another for more desktop space, REV A00. Plugged in the new monitor and it had a yellow-ish tint so I called Dell back and told them to send me another one because it's defective (so I thought!) The 2nd new one arrives and connect it and the same thing happens - yellow-ish tint to the display.

After trying every possible solution between 3 exact same displays (2 brand new), 2 PCIe slots, 2 GPUs that are SLI'd, new cables, power connected to the UPS and off, first DVI connection on both cards, etc... I cannot get the 2nd monitor (that Windows sees) to be normal. I tried uninstalling the gpus in device manager while in Safe mode, then removing the files with driver fusion and ccleaner, rebooting several times until there's no files left, then installing the latest drivers as admin, and nothing worked to help correct the color difference between the 3 monitors.

Well, after some searching I found the solution... What needs to be done is load the correct icc profile for the monitors, after manually adjusting the settings in the monitor menu system.

Now both the brand new REV A00 monitors are exactly the same (to my eye). The key is using this handy software to force the icc profile to be active. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/downloads/DisplayProfile.zi...
Run the program and put the window on the screen you want the icc profile you select to be active on. Then close the program and open it again, moving the window to the other screen and selecting the same icc profile.

Here's where you get the icc profile - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm

As you can see there's several for the Dell U2412M. I tried 2 before finally settling on the third that looks near perfect to me on both my monitors. It's called "Dell U2412M (Custom)" for panel version A00 (which you find on the back of the panel on the sticker with the serial number), with Custom Color Preset Mode set to R=98 G=90 B=92.

When you've found the icc profile you feel is best, make sure you go through the "Install and Activate an ICC Profile" section towards the bottom of the ICC Profiles page. You want to make sure there's only one icc profile in the list on the Color Management and Color Management - System Defaults page. You also want to save the profile to the device using the Profiles button.

Hope this helps...

Here's a review of the Dell panel - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2412m.htm

I purchased two of them both with yellow tint, sent both back. My old U2412m from 2012 color is just fine.
