U2722DE, U2422HE, lost USB-C signal

Afternoon,

We currently have around 300 DELL U2722DE / U2422HE monitors at our office. All of which seem to work fine and are compatible with our X13/X1 Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. However, up until recently, we've had a few issues with some of the laptops not getting a USB-C signal from specific monitors that have been working previously.

There is a USB-A connection present with the keyboard and mouse working fine, plugged into USB ports behind these Dell monitors).

If I move the same laptop to a different Dell monitor in the office it seems to work fine. So it seems to be an issue with the specific monitors themselves. I've trialed and tested a load of drivers / reinstalls and updates regarding these laptops but nothing seems to work at the moment.

No USB-C signal at all. Any idea's at all?

Hello there.

I was checking on what you diagnosed, and considering, try different cables, and if there's an adapter present, try a different adapter.

A cable can always be a culprit, many Dell Docking stations I have seen have had awful USB-C connector cables. If you're using a Dell (or even a ThinkPad) docking station, check your USB-C cables. See that the box can see the laptop connected. If they get touched when they're like that, that messes the up, causing this. Some boxes have this affect, some don't

Please let me know back if this helped, or if you need more help. Thanks!

I do not work for Dell. I recreated my Dell Community account after two years, February 2nd, 2022.

Hi,

I have tested different cables/ power leads with no luck.  I have taken a picture of the set up. I have taken out every cable with the exception of the power lead and then just a straight USB C from the monitor to the laptop. Even tested a different USB C to USB C cable.

I just experienced the same issue as the OP on my week-old U2722DE, and the only thing that brings it back is unplugging the power as you've said.

I'm not sure if this will be a one-off or if I should explore a warranty replacement. I bought two of the same model at the same time, and it's only happened to one of them so far.

I had the same problem with a new U2722DE working when I first plugged it in and then not recognising any usb-c video signal. Removing the power and plugging it back in again seems to have resolved the problem so far - so thanks for the tip.
