U2724DE, allow Daisy Chain using DP to support TB4 connection?

I was somehow hoping that the TB4 connection would allow to connect a 2nd monitor via DisplayPort chaining. I.e. the hub inside the monitor would pass 2 displays through to my MAC M1 without the need for MST which Apple does not support. But that does not seem to be the case. I still only see a single monitor on the MAC and the display only mirrors when connecting DP from primary to secondary monitor.

The secondary monitor is a U2722DE.

I know I could get a second U2724DE to daisy chain via TB4, but the 2nd monitor is used as primary for my work laptop and daisy chains DP to the other monitor. So TB4 daisy chain would not work as that port is already occupied.

Would need a monitor that can simulate 2 monitors to the MAC M1 over a single TB4 connection or 2nd monitor that has 2 TB4 or TB4 + USB-C (with video) inputs.

The quickstart images even show the option for TB4 and then chain with DP. But I assume that is supposed to be a Windows laptop with MST based chaining?

Anything I may be missing or does this really not work?

I was able to connect 2 monitors (U2724DE and U2724D) to my MacBook Pro via daisy chaining.

MBP to U2724DE using TB4

U2724DE to U2724D using a TB4/USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable

Both monitors will then be available to the Mac. If using DP to connect the monitors then they will be mirrored as you noted.

I also have a PC connected to the U2724DE via DP and KVM works to switch with the Mac.

Based on past Forum users notes, I do not think even with the latest macOS that it will allow any monitor MST daisy chaining. Consider posting the issue on the Apple Forum to see if any other Apple users have tried the U2724D.
