U3223QZ, microphone stops working

< Different monitor model. Started your own thread. DELL-Admin>

I have somewhat similar issue with my new shiny U3223QZ. Even though audio output works without problems so far, the microphone stops to work every now and then randomly. Zoom is very good at noticing it by the way. I guess seeing completely zero input signal. What I noticed is before microphone stop to pick up sound there's an audible click as if some electronic circuitry gets switched. I'm on the latest firmware (M2T102).

And indeed, that makes this extremely expensive monitor not usable for conferencing, so why spending so much if there're much cheaper non-conferencing monitors from Dell which just do their job?

I had been struggling with this issue on both of my U3223QZ monitors (plus one replacement shipment from Dell), which I use extensively for Microsoft Teams meetings. The microphone issue made me wish I had not bought these premium monitors.

However, I am happy to report that the M4T104 firmware seems to have finally fixed the issue. Thanks to all who reported, debugged, and fixed this issue!

I've been having this issue with that monitor monitor since it first came out. Dell tried replacing the monitor and even my laptop a couple times, but it's been bumped up the chain and they have now told me it's a firmware issue for the monitor. They were expecting a fix last month, but only fixed another model and have been delayed on this one.

So I have a ticket open with DELL on this same issue with a few of our U3223QZ and was told they are expecting a firmware update to be released at the end of this month (March). Yes, there was another model (C3422WE) that was having similar issues and they did recently release a firmware update (M2T110) to address the "intermittently microphone drop" on this model. So should be similar.

The firmware update that is supposed to fix this issue has been released: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/product-support/product/u3223qz-monitor/drivers

I didn't get a notice from Dell on my open ticket, but I've been checking regularly. So far it's working, so fingers crossed that it's actually resolved. I'll update if there are continued issues.

The firmware update has not fixed the issue for me unfortunately, guess it's back to the waiting game

Folks,

firstly i note that the new firmware has been released a couple of days ago. I have had been working with the Dell technical team testing with my own monitors. I would like to thank them for their work. I ended up testing the monitors with the new firmware on both a lenovo laptop and a dell laptop and for me the firmware has resolved the issues. I have been testing over a couple of weeks now!.

Fingers crossed this firmware resolves the issues for the rest of the dell community out their.

Again, thanks to Dell support.

cheers
