U3419W, DDM KVM toggle two MacBook doesn't work

Hi!

So I've been able to install Dell DDM properly and use it for the most part very well (phew!) and this is my first time attaching two systems so I'd say it worked pretty well apart from a few hiccups on the way that I sorted but now I am stuck at one place that would make my life much easier! Here's the setup:

System 1: MacBook Pro M1 Ventura 13.0.1 connected with USB-C cable
System 2: MacBook Air M2 Ventura 13.2.1 connected with HDMI --> dock --> USB-C cable

PIP / PBP works pretty well and using Logitech's Flow feature helps to use the mouse (MX Anywhere 3) and keyboard (MX Keys for Mac) easily between both systems but the problem starts when I switch to the Single Display.

Here's what happens:

  1. When I try to switch between both systems using hotkeys - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, especially once I am on the second system that is connected by HDMI there's no way to go back other than using the KVM buttons on the monitor.

  2. This would still be okay if I could change the input source from the DDM on the second system connected by HDMI but it only allows changing Easy Arrange settings - everything else is greyed out and the KVM function is not even visible (last screenshot).

I have tried using this fix on FAQ Dell Monitor and Apple thread but it didn't work:

macOS DDPM shortcut and settings save broken. Try this workaround =
* Quit DDPM
* Access “Application/DDPM” folder
* Move “DDPM_settings json” to bin
* Launch DDPM again

---
So am I missing any settings or is there a workaround where the 2nd system also shows the KVM function on the DDM app like it does so I can just switch to system 1 from there? Or the hotkeys to toggle between two input sources can work better?

Attaching a few screenshots if that helps.

Many thanks!

It seems like you're experiencing issues with hotkey switching and input source selection using Dell Display Manager (DDM) on a multi-system setup.

To troubleshoot this issue, try the following steps:

1. Update DDM: Ensure you have the latest version of Dell Display Manager installed on both systems. You can download it from Dell's official website.

2. Enable input source selection: Make sure that input source selection is enabled on both systems. To do this, open DDM, go to "Preferences" or "Settings," and look for an option related to input source selection or KVM switching. Enable it if it's disabled.

3. Check hotkeys: Verify that the hotkey combination for switching between systems is configured correctly in DDM settings. If it's not, set it up according to your preference.

4. Update monitor firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your Dell monitor. Updating the firmware might resolve issues related to KVM switching and input source selection

Thank you very much for your reply, harisrehman.

  1. DDM is updated on both the systems (screenshot attached)
  2. Enabled? There's no option for enabling it per se but on the system 2 Input Source is greyed out and I can't play with any settings. It shows on system 1 but not sure what to do, if I choose HDMI 1 then it switches to it and well there's no way for me to switch back to system 1 unless I do it from Monitor's menu (screenshot 2).
  3. It is configured as cmd + shift + 0 to switch between PCs. You can see other hotkeys in screenshot 3.
  4. Monitor firmware is also updated to M3B114 (funnily on system 2 it doesn't show the Monitor Firmware as you can see in the first screenshot)

So... I can switch to system 2 either from the DDM by changing the inputor using the hotkey but then I can't switch back to system 1 either from the DDM (greyed out) or the hotkey as I hear an empty-error sound.

I tried using the hotkey on both systems by switching the keyboard thinking maybe because the KVM function shows on system 1 so it might work to switch back when keyboard is connected to that but no joy just the same error sound like you're pressing the key for no reason.
