Backup faliure

There was backup faliure with error message :- abc 1 retry attempted 39078:save: SYSTEM error: client `abc' is not properly configured on the NetWorker Server or `abc'(if not a virtual host) is not in the aliases list for client `xyz' 5777:save: Cannot open save session with xxxxm.zzz50.ksksksks.net : Failed with error(s).

I removed the entry in remote access column in NMC console from the properties of xyz client which was failing and then when the backup was restarted, it got completed.

Is there any relation to the entry in remote access when scheduled backup starts if the two servers are not part of any cluster enviornment?

Hi Moin,

Looks like a VM client, right?

Ensure that the Physical host is correctly configured.

Ensure as well that all possible aliases are included within the alias field of the client configuration, and also that the name resolution from server to client and vice versa works fine.

for testing purposes check the /nsr/res/servers file in the client and ensure that the name in there is the correct one (specially in case you have more than one NIC for server and client), or else you can leave it blank and restart NW services in the client, cleaning /nsr/tmp folder.

Thank you.

Carlos.

Hi,

ABC and XYZ both are backup client......

In XYZ client ---- When remote host entry system@"ABC" is added in XYZ..Then backup had failed.

When remote host entry was removed from XYZ client ...backup completed successfully.

I would like to ask when the backup starts, what is the role of remote host entry.

Note :- I guess Remote host entry is only for restore purpose?

When you say remote host entry are u talking about the "hosts" file entry on the server?

Or are you talking about the /nsr/res/servers file????

Your query is not clear.

Which 2 servers are u talking about. Are they both clients.

Where exactly did u find the "remote access column"?
