Backup server hangs during VADP backup
Hi,
Critical problem for us.
NetWorker server is also the VADP proxy.
It is using NBD transport mode.
When i run a group with very small amount of VM's (less than 10) it works.
When i run a group with tens of VM's but with group parallelism of 15 the server crush every time.
It gives a blue scrren with bad_pool_caller.
We have teaming of two broadcom nics and chimeny is disabled.
The server is Windows 2008 R2 SP1.
Microsoft utility - process monitor is running but when the server crush the logs get corrupted.
Can anyone help here?
Thanks,
Eyal.

Hi Eyal,
Are you backing up to an AFTD or to tape? We have had some reports of issues that sound similar to what you have when the NetWorker server and proxy are on the same machine and they are backing up to AFTD attached to the same machine.

Hi,
If you don't find anything faulty on the windows side, you should open an SR with support and ask that the logs and behaviour from your issue be compared to the ongoing escalation reference NW134461. This is currently being worked by our engineering together with VMWare and Microsoft. At the moment, they are suspecting problems with shared memory usage at some level. I suspect your server might have other problems that cause it to react so badly to the load, but it would seem likely that the problems could be related to the issue being investigated through NW134461 also.

Hi Bobby,
We are backing up to tape devices.
But what was your issue? Maybe they are the same.
We are currently thinking about some kind of faulty driver or memory but we are not sure.
Thanks,

Has this been resolved?
We are getting hangups when a VADP job and a regular/database job hit the same server.
The 'snap' cannot be released....very frustrating and a BUG!
