Can we do a filesystem backup of Microsoft Hyper-V Host

Hi All,

We have a Microsoft hyper-V host, As we have setup filesystem backups for all the VM's on that host we only want to perform the backup of Hyper-V host.

Can we configure the Hyper-V host as filesystem client and perform a filesystem backup??

Thank you

Hi Vital.Ku

Yes, you can have a file system bakcup of a Hyper-V host, however, to bakcup the VM themselves, and any VM related file, you will need to use NMM and back it up with it.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you,

  1. Install NetWorker Core Application on HyperV Hypervisor system
  2. Install NetWorker Module for Microsoft in the Same Host
  3. Configure the Hyper-V Backup using NetWorker Client Configuration Wizard from NMC and use the host name of Hyper-V server
  4. Whiel configuring the Hyper-V server it will automatically discover the Virtual Machin residing in the Hyper V system
  5. Run Backup

Best Practices:

  • Check Compatibility
  • Make sure the target device is AFTD or Data Domain device
