client version smaller than server version

Hello,

has anyone experiences in running higher Networker versions on backup clients than on backup server? Our support asked me to install Networker 7.4 on one of our backup clients. Our backup server is running Networker 7.3.3. Do you know if this combination works well or if there may occur any problems? I'm less concerned about mixing Networker versions the other way round.

It is not suggested to install the Higher version on client than the server version. Reverse will work but higher version of clien can make problem to take bakup. We have not yet seen this scenario. We have seen in other softwares it has denied to take backup with error "client has higher version than server".

This is not recommended though I have seen this work for other versions but EMC Support would nto support you on this.

With 7.4 EMC said they would support mixed versions as long as they include latest 7.3.2 builds (or 7.3 SP3 I assume). What surprised me was that even server and storage node in this specific case could be different.
