Diskbackup
Help, I have Legato Networker 7.4 SP1.Build.335 and I am successfully backing up to disk. But for some reason It is not over writing every other day. I want to only keep a days worth of backup..
What happened's is that I backup the servers to tape every night to tape, then during the day I back up to disk three times at 9am same and 4 pm then it is backed up again that night to tape. Then I just want it to over write the disk backup next day...
I have setup my default staging as follows:
water mark 90%
Low mark 60%
Save set selection Oldest save set
Max storage period 1 Day
Recover space 8hrs
File system check interval 3hrs
The destination pool is set the correct setting. is there something I am missing here. I would hate to think that I would have to Label the disks every morning so they are ready for the day.

You may have to do some scripting then. You can script the backup to run and set the retention in the command for the tape backup and just set the other backup to one day as suggested above or you can create a script to identify backup run at night and set the retention policy on them via the script.
If you need help with the scripting part I can offer some assistance as we use script extensively here.Kalispell1

Problem with that is I also backup to tape once a night and I dont want them set to a day. If I needed to do a restore I would have to reindex those tapes. Is there anyway to only chage the retention time on the disk???

Hi,
I think the easiest way to solve retention problem is to create seperate instances of that client with different retention policies and backup them to different pools.
Maybe this idea can help you.
