error "DRIVE_STATUS_NEED_INIT" while inventorying tapes
Hi,
Today afternoon while i was performing the inventory for the tapes
inserted, accidently did an inventory to cleaning tape as well and from
then on it is giving the following error for every action. Networker 7.4
Dec 10 14:14:46 ts01 logger: NetWorker media: (warning) /dev/nst0 opening:
DRIVE_STATUS_NEED_INIT
Dec 10 14:24:46 ts01 logger: NetWorker media: (warning) /dev/nst0 opening:
DRIVE_STATUS_NEED_INIT
so i have restarted the networker service on the server and run nsrjb -HEv
for hardware reset as the mounted point was struck to slot 11 which had
cleaning tape inserted into it. more info is that it is not configured for
dedicated slot until now for cleaning.
From the log i can see that juke box status is ready as below
Dec 10 14:34:31 ts01 logger: NetWorker index: (notice) /nsr/index/ts012
contains 716614 records occupying 146 MB
Dec 10 14:34:31 ts01 logger: NetWorker index: (notice) Completed checking 8
client(s)
Dec 10 14:35:28 ts01 logger: NetWorker media: (info) Jukebox `PCE TAPE
LIBRARY LTO4' Hardware status of jukebox 'PCE TAPE LIBRARY LTO4' is 'ready'
That would be great if any body can suggest me if it is sorted out or not
and any suggestions from happening again will be great ?
Thanks,
Phani

When cleaning tape is loaded, it will remain some time in drive until drive does not release it (drive knows at this point it is cleaning tape and does perform cleaning). What you could do was simply remove cleaning tape to export slot or some empty slot and remove it, reset library and inventory it again if necessary.
