Exchange 2007 backup error with replica?

Hi sirs, what how can I solve this problem

Hi Alexey,

The path specified is in fact a path on the Exchange server, not on NetWorker server, as in this case we are not using a Proxy server.

In NMM 2.3 the folder will be created automatically in the path you specify, with previous versions of NMM this didn't happen, and was pretty common having backup failures because not having that folder created manually.

So if you set NSR_ALT_PATH=C:\snapmount

NMM will automatically create a folder, on Exchange server called "snapmount" under C:\

i have stand-alone Exchange 2007, i have PublicFolder too, how to create render log?

Hi Alex,

Is this stand-alone Exchange 2007 or is it a cluster? If a cluster, is it SCC, LCR or CCR? Please note that configuration changes depending on the type of cluster.

Based on the error message I would suggest to check your Exchange Storage Groups:

Storage Group 01 has no Mailbox or Public Folder databases.

Also remember that you will need to have Public Folders created to avoid any issues.

Alex, did you render the log? Please note that some important messages are not shown correctly until you render the log, so please, for next error messages, would you mind to paste the output rendered so we can find out the error message easily?  Check this out:

There is no information about the exception because log not rendered correctly.

Hi Alex,

If you installed NMM in the default path, then you need to open CMD and go to the following path:

C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\applogs

From there run:

C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\applogs>nsr_render_log nmm.raw > nmm.log

That will render the file, and you can open nmm.log which will be now readable.

Hi Alex,

Could you please check if the SG's are currently hosting any MD or PF DB? Error message indicates that the SG's are empty.

Also, if you check and there is indeed aome DB created, please run the following command:

nsrsnap_vss_save -G

This will dump the Writer information as .XML files. Please attach the Exchange Writer .XML file so I can take a look. And also please the output of this command:

nsrsnap_vss_save -v -?

Which Exchange Versio (SP and Roll UP) are you trying to backup?

Did you install and run NMM Config Checker on Exchange server? If you didn't please do, and you will find out if there is any hotfix or update missing.

Hi Alex,

Did you add SRV04 to the alias field of the client?

Also, can you check with the Exchange Admin that SG's are correctly mounted and there is no issues with any of them?

I would suggest you a reboot of the Exchange server, and after that check Application and System event logs, and also the Exchange Application logs in Event Viewer.

After the reboot run a new backup and let us know the results.

If backup still fails I think we should check the Replication Manager logs, and also the daemon.raw. If backup fails please render the daemon.raw from Exchange server and paste it here please, together with the Replication Manager logs.

my version Exchange is 2007 SP2, yes i install config checker, but if i run test. Program is critical close with message program will be a close(((( the customer does not allow to restart the server, at least in the coming week ((((

Anyway I think you should install at least SP3, as per documentation:

Exchange Server 2007 SP3 backup with NMM requires hotfix (NW123514, NW121777)

Exchange 2007 Service Pack 3 Update Rollup 1 is required with NMM

2.2 SP1 or NMM 2.3. This is applicable for stand-alone, CCR, LCR, and SCC configurations.

Workaround

Install this hotfix from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982118/ on the Microsoft website.

Anyway take a look at the KB I sent you to fix the issue with NMM Config Checker and run it, this will save you a lot of time in checking any other requirements.

I don't really understand your question.

NSR_ALT_PATH=xxx is mandatory for all Exchange NMM backups.

This is the path where NMM/Replication Manager will mount the snapshot to perform consistency check.

Extracted from the documentation:

NSR_ALT_PATH=value This attribute specifies the path on which Exchange snapshots must be mounted during the backup process.

Exchange snapshots are mounted so that the database consistency check utility, eseutil.exe (This is only for Exchange 2007, in Exchange 2010 there is no longer eseutil.exe), can be run.

A mount path, for example, NSR_ALT_PATH=G:\mount_replica\

If a proxy client is specified in the NSR_DATA_MOVER attribute, type the mount path on the proxy client.

Note: If the file system path specified for NSR_ALT_PATH in Exchange client does not exist, it is automatically created in NMM 2.3

Basically you can specify in tha variable any path you wish, but it cannot be a shared cluster disk.
