Extend Tape Browse Time

I'm using Networker 7.2.2 for Windows and I have some tapes that I set the browse and retention policy to 5 weeks. I would like to know what the steps are to extend the browse time so I can restore off these since they are several months old. Also, is there a way to set this new policy on existing tapes permanently?

You can do that using the nsrim command but with individual save sets using SSID.

That would be nsrmm command.

I'm sorry but could you be more specific. I would like to know the actual steps to accomplish this. If you have a link to some specific instructions that would be perfect. I searched the networker documents and the forums however I can't find anything on this procedure.

Go to documentation download and take CLI guide and read it for nsrmm. There is also an example area where you can learn few tricks too.

For example: Home > Support > Documentation/White Paper Library > Software J-O > NetWorker > NetWorker for UNIX > 7.3.x

If on UNIX simply execute man nsrmm.

Hi,

you'd need two commands only:

nsrmm -yo notrecyclable -S
nsrck -L7 -t "time of full index backup after the backup>

The last command is optional but will be better if it can be used, because then you can do a browsable recovery without having to scanner the tape.

I just reread this and noticed that saveset has already expired... that changes things a bit and then either follow Xander's suggestion or delete whole saveset and scan it back again (in case that index is not available).
