Firewall problems NMC and Data Domain
Hi,
i am running in troubles with the firewall administrators . I got a Data Domain System and a Networker Management Console Server. Everytime i want to add the Data Domain with the Device Wizard I get the Information:
Failed to contact Data Domain System. Host could be unreachable, or username/password could be incorrect. Do you wish to configure manually?
I ordered the firewall admin to open ports 3009, 2049, 2051, 2052 for communication from NMC Server to Data Domain.
How can i check if the Data Domain was contacted or not? Is there a port listener option (in the cli)
I would be really thankful if anyone got an idea how to solve this. Or I am missing some more ports to open for the communcation
Regards,
Patric

It might be easier to check with fw guys if they see traffic blocked. Bare in mind that this error can happen under different circumstances. For example, when using wizard for add DD devices, you must make sure that all boxes involved (server, storage node, NMC and DD) can communicate with each other over VLAN on which devices or DD is being defined. Some folks miss that when adding devices as they assume server and DD should be enough assuming NMC doesn't need to be as it would push commands over server, but that is not the case.
