how to remove a particular saveset from a volume

Hi,

i am out of space and i cannot loose my data, so i need to remove some savesets from the volume which is an advanced file type. i tried using the nsrmm command, but it didn't work with me.

any suggestions how to use this command, and is there is a way to do that through the NW management console

nsrmm is the way to go. Tell me what you did and what was the error? On advanced file device you have two instances of ssid. If you don't have ssid cloned or staged (so it is ONLY on disk device) you can use nsrmm -dy -S ssid. If you have that ssid on tape or somewhere else then use nsrmm -dy -S ssid/cloneid for both instances (difference will be in cloneid number).

ok this is working fine, thank you, one more question considering the removel of the savesets: does it automatically removes the saveset from the advanced file type and provide space?

yes it does, i was removing the savesets while the backup was stuck, so i had to stop it and then it showed the free space i gained. thank you

Run nsrim -X after.

Hi,nsrim -X gives me the new state of the volume. What i did is that i ran the command nsrmm -S 'ssid' -o recyclable. In this way, it will set the saveset to recyclable, so as soon as the networker asks for that file to write on it will over-write the savesets.
