I believe that he will need to run "scanner -im device_name", as -m option will only update media dabatase.

Also, I think you meant "nsrck -L6", and this will only work with index you already have, will not update with info from the tape.

So, the steps would be:

1) Delete savesets
2) Mount tape
3) Run scanner -im
4) You're done :)

Try the SCANNER program.

The scanner program retrieves the information needed to re-create entries in either
the client file index, in the media database, or in both places.

When you restore the save set entry by using the scanner program, the save set then remains browsable for one month and recoverable for three months.

Delete ssid and then scan tape - it will bring back ssid for browse and retention of ssid starting from scan date. If you do not do that, you have to change ssid first to nonrecycable and then scan it.

I would suggest to either check manual or your support as you do not seem to be familiar with this matter. Commands you are after are scanner and nsrmm.

Hi,

Insert the media in the drive .Now run the scanner command
scanner -m derive_name

After completion of this command run the following commands

nsrmim -X (Two time)
nsrim -L6

Now restart the service.By doing this you will get the Media database and indexes. After this the data will be browsable
