Index file backup for NAS
We had configured NDMP client backup on Legato7.3.1, while taking backup of NAS, it is giving an error for the backup of Index file only."
ERROR MESSAGE IS :
failed:full:index
* 10.212.20.52:index 1 retry attempted
* 10.212.20.52:index save: error, no matching devices for save of client `indelhmeysql04.mea.ey.net'; check storage nodes, devices or pools
* 10.212.20.52:index save: Cannot open save session with indelhmeysql04.mea.ey.net

here indelhmeysql04.mea.ey.net is our Networker Server and 10.212.20.52 is the EMC Celerra NAS Box.
Whether it is possible to take the index backup of NAS on same tape where my NAS backup is saved.

Step 2: Make sure you don't restrict pools in a way that you can't write indices. (that seems to be your problem)
It is possible to use same tape, but I believe you restricted the devices for that pool to be available only to Celerra - am I right?

If you are taking NDMP backup of your NAS, indexes need to be stored on a different tape. NDMP is a different protocol & index is written in Networker format. Therefore, you need to have a saparate volume for NDMP & another one for index. Media Pools need to be different as well.
In Networker, even a backup device can either be configured for NDMP backups or for routine networker backups.
You should define a new pool which includes all the groups. In the saveset mention INDEX: & BOOTSTRAP:. Therefore, for all backup groups index & bootstrap are written on a tape labelled in this pool. Ideally, in NDMP & SAN based(DDS & DSN), we prefer to configure it like this. Index recoveries become faster when required as they are stored separately on a different tape.
Fo further safety, you can regularly clone this index tape.

They can share same volume and pool - they can't be written or read by filer.

For dedicating a volume for INDEX, I think creating a separate pool would be a better option.
Please suggest if there is any other way to do this.
