Legato Networker best practice for DWMY backups?

The NW Admin guide deals with how to create backup jobs. Its pretty thorough and its how I learned.

Why not do a Full once a month with incrementals in between? That's simple.

Then copy the client and put in a different group with a custom yearly schedule instead of a monthly one.

Best practice really depends on your environment's requirements and resources. But in general you have 2 approaches:
a) have one client in 4 groups each writing to its own pool. Script then, based on pool, adjusts policies.
b) have client per each group which also represents different policy that is going to be applied (set per client).

i came to an enviroment where there are 4 groups - D W M Y and each client is in every group. this seems to me very complicated as i have over 200 hundred of clients and adding a new one means to add 4 clients with the same name in fact.

i would like to know if there is some other way how to make it simplier way as it is on other backup products

Unless it crashes which is also something that happens from time to time

You can also use the client wizard to create new clients easily.

Takes about one minute for each instance.
