NetWorker 9.1 VMware protection groups

Question

Hi, When configuring VMware backups in 9.1, if the ESX host is selected when configuring the protection group will this backup just the host or all VM's residing on that hosts? If it is the host, what gets backed up? If it is everything running on the host and an individual VM (which runs on that host) is also selected from the list, will the VM be backed up twice? Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated. DJ

Hi,

When you configure the Protection group for vmware, make sure to uncheck the ESXi hosts as VProxy will not be able to backup an ESXi ... use the Dropdown and select the guests that you need to backup

Once you select the host/cluster, all VM's are automatically selected. Backing up at the host/cluster level will backup every VM in that entity once.
