Networker and archive option

Hi,

I want to archive data on one of the clients. Is it possible to initiate archive creation from the server and not from the client? Can't find such option nowhere :(

As far as I know and can recall, there isn't as it is a client initiated process, especially when taking into account that it can be use Groom to actually deleted the archived files on the client after successful archive has been made.

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/networker/nw_p_nwadmin/archiving-data?guid=guid-9646763d-200f-40a3-871a-133e67602647&lang=en-us

"The client archive program (nsrarchive) creates an archive. The client nsrexecd service starts this archive."

But is this truly what you want? We don't do any archives, ever. People call a long term retention backup more or less an archive (backup being way too cheap compared to using a proper archiving method and application to manage that), but if one truly needs archiving, in my opinion they should use an archive application, this to make sure that the data still makes sense once it is needed to be restored?

Because who is going to make sure there is an OS, or in case applications or DB's are involved , also an application/DB to actually do something with the data (als requiring the NW agent and NW module). That is mainly the case with long term retention backups.

However with archives with NW, the archive also does not expire and needs its own archive pool, devices and volumes. So how well do you deal with that archiving and it not expiring? Ever?
