Nope... Idle device timeout you are after is not under device properties, but under library properties.

There is LCP now which might influence that, but usually you will see that with shared devices/libraries and silos (plus AS libraries). If bothered, simply put idle device timeout to 0 and it should not happen. If it is already 0 then you will need to open a case with support.

I'm afraid that one is still open... Since build 11 there have been 3 jumbo patch releases - some more and some less public - it is best for support to get an overview of the issues you have and if newer build might fix some of them for you. There have been some changes in a way how this releases are released and tested so support must evaluate it first.

7.3.x has some quirks and current patch level is I believe build 299 - you may wish to make a list of issues and supply it to support - they will probably give you that version then. I say that as it sounds you have at least two different issues there. Idle device timeout can be found under jukebox properties (not sure which tab as I don't have GUI in front of me).

Hrvoje,

I just may do that when Support calls me back. I have yet another call in regarding AES encryption. Test recoveries fail with 'nwrecover: no decryption key available!' and I didn't touch the Datazone pass phrase between the test backup and test recovery.

We're at Build 11 so if they're at Build 299 then is sounds like they made a lot of changes. The nsrexecd aborting on Tru64 is the biggest problem because backups of our production databases are failing. That occurs about twice a week.

Hrvoje,

It is a bit of a problem because after we upgraded to 7.3.2 Jumbo the backup times increased and the backup window was already tight. There are gaps between when savegroups start so the jukebox does sit idle for periods of time during the night. It seems that pre-7.3.2 the tapes stayed in the drives and now it's ejecting and reloading the tapes. Not saying that's the main cause but I'm trying to eliminate things one at a time.

Where is this idle device timeout? I checked in NetWorker & the jukebox (HP MSL6060) and don't see anything.

Thanks,
Vic

Finally found where 'Device Idle Timeout' is located. It's in the Advanced Tab for Device Properties. The thing is, NMC has to be in Diagnostic Mode to see it (View menu -> Diagnostic Mode). Checked the tape drives and they're all set to 0 which according to the manually means it won't timeout. Looks like another bug.
