Networker / Powersnap

I try to install Powersnap on a two solaris Platform.
It's the first installation.
Backup platform (alson proxy client) : solaris 10
Production host : solaris 10 (sun25k).

FS : UFS
PowerPath : 5.x
Symapi kit : 6.3.1.1
EMC DMX box with the last firmware
BCV disks emulated with CLONE disks.

Error message is the following :

You don't have 64bit library installed. You should read carefully installation guide :D

I have always the same error.

In symapi log, I haven't any message on action ask by powernsap.

When installing SE (symcli) you will see that default is N for 64 bit libraries (at least that was what was getting for HPUX so I guess same goes for Solaris) so it's easy to make a mistake. When you get this error you should also see error in symapi log asking for missing libraries.

Yes, when I read installation guide there a "small" line which says if we install Powersnap in 64 bit we have to install symapi in 64 bit.

I verify and symapi is installed in 32 bit.
Then I install symapi in 64 bit and I see if it's working well.

thank you for the answer.

Are you sure you installed 64 bit libraries on both proxy and application host? What symcli do you use on those hosts? Can you check if you have libstormap64.sl and libstorctrl64.sl on system (I hope those are used too on Solaris)? If you are running 6.0.3, I would suggest to upgrade to 6.2.1 or 6.3.2 (even 6.0.3 is supported we could not make it work nicely).

They seem to be there with fresh timestamp so I guess they should be used too then. I'm not sure how is with Solaris (I suspect same as with HPUX), but in HPUX world SymCLI is 32bit, but it comes with 64bit libraries on top. I guess same is here. The only thing missing now could be, if you still get the same error, is that lib path was not updated. You will either need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH or use crle command (which I prefer more).

here is the directory of lib :

How I can determine if we use lib 32 bit or 64 bit?

I guess libxxx64 is 64 bit library and libxxx is 32-bit library.

We are in version 6.3.1.

I installes Powersnap in 32 bit to see if i have the same problem.
In the installation guide it's written if we have powersnap in 64 bit then we have to install symapi in 32 bit and if we have powersnap in 32 bit we have to install symap in 32 bit.

The problem is exactly the same.

Then I really think we are in 64 bit with symapi because we write Y (for 64 bit by default) in the installation script.

I think the problem is elsewhere.

Set NSR_PS_DEBUG_LEVEL=9 on appl information and try again and post all available logs from proxy and application (including symapi log).

For Solaris 10 you should use everything as 64 bit. The message itself is clear - do you have any messages on proxy host? Also, are you sure there is nothing in symapi log?

Yes I installed all in 64 bit.
It was just to test powersnap and symapi in 32 bit. just to see if I have the same message.

I am sure I have nothing in symapi log.
When I run a symapi command like symmir or symdg, I can see it in symapi log.
But when I run powersnap I have nothing.

I found why symapi didn't work.

In fact on the project, there is one people dedicated to install and configure all the thing around EMC box.
Then he didn't install the option ¿Install Single-Threaded Symapi Shared Libraries".

I install again symapi and now symapi is working.

I have an another problem.

I search a little bit and after I will ask you for help.

Yes bu sometimes we have to guess a little bit. :-)

Now I have an another problem.
The message is the following :

04/03/2007 14:26:16.286 10472 1 Legato:Networker SymDataFileIdentify caller is not licensed

I don't understand well.
Normally I have all the license.

Do you have an idea?
