NetWorker release management

NetWorker 8.1.0,5 has been released  - see NetWorker 8.1.0.5 patch has been released  for details.  This primary applies to folks already running 8.1 (not 8.0.w.z and 8.1SP1).

8.1.1.2 has been released.  I expect this to have appeal to those who already run 8.1SP1 prior to this release (which appears to be GA finally) and most likely those moving towards vSphere 5.5.  Some details NetWorker 8.1.1.2 released. For full text, check official release notes and accompanying documentation.

NetWorker 8.0.3.2 has been released - see NetWorker 8.0.3.2 released for details. This version is dedicated to those already running NW 8.0.x and I would also say to those hoping from NW7 wagon to NW8.

Please note that in last incarnation of release notes for NetWorker 8.0.X (February 28th, 2014) we have change which reads that NW150714 has been removed from SP2 fix list. Previous title associated with this problem ID was "Adding vSphere 5.0.2 support to VADP solution". So there you have - either not added or most likely believed to be added by some issue discovered which made EMC retire that statement.  At the same time release notes for 8.1.X added NW156354 - "Mount folder not cleared after incremental VADP backup of a Windows VM using hotadd mode". I don't know if these two are in any relation (if they are, it may indicate that support will be only targeted for 8.1.x release).

I think we are not that far away from 8.0.3.3 release (it should be this week I guess).  I was also expecting 8.1.0.6, but perhaps EMC will skip that in favor of 8.1.1.x code development.  And 8.2.x.x is being baked as well as it seems because KB lists document 000183711 which talks about issue already brought up by several folks (NMC backup reported as failed) which is fixed in 8.0.3.3 build 346 and 8.2. At this point, I do not expect 8.1SP2 to appear before May (hint: EMC World).

According to KB, one thing known to be part of 8.2 is RFE 146021 - which gives you an email alert to recover operations (see KB document 000125807).

8.0.3.3 release has been released couple of days ago - see NetWorker 8.0.3.3 released. If you are running NW8 you might find it as good target code.

In case you missed, EMC announced today (among other protection elements) NetWorker 8.2.  It will be released somewhere in Q2 so I suspect folks going to EMC World will have chance to test it.  You can find some information about it here:

- Announcing EMC NetWorker 8.2

- The New NetWorker

8.2 brings loads of new features and unless you are after one or more of those, you can continue to enjoy 8.0.3.x and 8.1.1.x releases.

NetWorker 8.1.1.4 has been released.  For details see NetWorker 8.1.1.4 released.  You will find some puzzling data there too and some guesses as far as fix list goes, but I do not have all information right now.  This release is targeting those already running 8.1.x and those thinking of jumping on 8.1.x board.

Happy Easter.  NetWorker engineering sends greetings in form of 8.0.3.4 - see NetWorker 8.0.3.4 released.  This release is for conservative upgraders coming from NW7 world or those already at NW8 and who plan to stay there for a while.

8.1.1.6 is out there - see NetWorker 8.1.1.6 released .  This - I suspect - is also last SP1 patch for 8.1 - next one should be SP2.  8.1.1.6 shares some fixes with 8.0.3.5 and at least one got re-introduced again despite being listed in 8.1.1.5 fix list.

8.0.3.6 is also out, but official list is not there yet. Unofficially, there are 3 fixes inside and most likely this is last SP3 patch.

Well, not sure what sleepy beauty is doing and why EMC readme is not update, but I published it anyway - see NetWorker 8.0.3.6 released

Some comments.  Build difference between 8.0.3.5 and 8.0.3.6 is 3 which means there is these two escalations fixed plus one bug (or RFE) which remains in shades. I suspect this is last SP3 post patch and next one for 8.0 will be SP4 (support for 8.0 goes until August 2015 so that would be something like 8.0.5.6 to finish 8.0 code tree. However, I expect focus to be mostly on 8.1.x and 8.2.x so not expect new stuff coming into 8.0.x.

8.2 is now DA and brings (finally) same module version naming (version and build) as core package (eg. NMSAP 8.2).  I plan to write separate blog post for 8.2.

8.1.1.7 is out - check NetWorker 8.1.1.7 released .  I think 8.1.1.6 and now 8.1.1.7 are must releases for those using concurent cloning or cloning right after ssid has completed (see https://emc--c.na5.visual.force.com/apex/KB_HowTo?id=kA0700000004Twf). This stuff, cloning at least, should be in SP2 and 8.2 as well (8.2 should be better due to multithreading being added to mdb process).
