NMM 2.3 error message
I'm almost there, I have the Exchange 2010 test backup working, with one error message - it does write to tape, but it writes only a 2 KB file, and then gives this error message:
NMM .. Starting Backup. This operation may take a long time depending on the size of the data requested.
82296:nsrsnap_vss_save:NMM .. 77175:nsrsnap_vss_save:NMM .. completed commit replica with status of false.
63335:nsrsnap_vss_save:NMM backup failed to complete successfully.
Internal error.
Any ideas? I've created the media pool, template, and even labeled a tape that it writes to.
TIA
backup server is win2003, 7.5.4.4, and client is Win2008, Exchange 2010, 7.5.4.4, and NMM 2.3

Well, it's RTFM and pay attention. I read that you needed FQDN in the client, but we've always used the netbios name, and put the FQDN as an alias. We've never had a problem (13 years) doing this.
Well, that doesn't work in NMM. The client definition has to been FQDN. Once I did that, problem was solved...

Hello David,
That error message indicates either a problem with name resolution or a wrong configuration of the client entries in NetWorker server.
As per the first error message, I noticed that the first name for the client Exchange.domain.edu, but the second is exchange.domain.edu:
Operation unit failed with error 'Please make sure you have configured at least one NetWorker Device and client resources are configured for the application host[Exchange.domain.edu] and the proxy client[exchange.domain.edu] on NetWorker Server [backup server.domain.edu]
Is this a stand-alone Exchange 2010 server or is it a DAG environment?
Please ensure that:
- The client entries are created properly and that all the possible aliases are included within the "Alias" field in the client configuration.
- NetWorker server is able to resolve the names properly for the Exchange 2010 and vice versa.
- Do you have more than one NIC in Exchange server and/or Exchange client? If so please ensure that configuration and Name Resolution works fine for the appropriate Interfaces.
- Check that the pool is correctly configured for the group, in fact check if the pool selected in the group configuration, below the Snapshot policy has selected that group checked in the Selection criteria field in the pool configuration.
Thank you.
Carlos.
