NMM 3.0.1 GLR "Exchange ESE Util invalid database file path"

Hi everybody,

we have upgraded Networker Server and Exchange Clients und have the following configuration:

Networker Server is W2K8R2, Networker Version 8.1.1.9

Networker Exchange Clients (DAG consisting of four members) are W2K8R2, Networker Version 8.1.1.2

NMM 3.0.1.2

Backup full/incr works fine.

Recover into an RDB works fine.

Single Item restore from the RDB works fine.

Single Item restore from the RDB of one users mailbox into another users mailbox works fine.

But using the GLR-Recovery won´t work. Every time we try it Networker seems to mount the temporay drive but then stops the Recover process.

Messages in nmm.raw are:

"Exchange SG MailboxDatabasexx databases and overwrite checks succeded in preparation for restore"

"nsrsnap_vss_recover: NMM...Exchange ESEUtil Invalid database file path".

"Exchange GLR restore cannot be completed. Unable to read database C:\program files\nsr\tmp\nwfs\Networker virtual file system\... that provides the list of logs to apply to make it consistent. -- Error 13"

"GLR restore cannot be completed. An error occured determining the logs required for database c:\program files\nsr\tmp\nwfs\Networker virtual file system... -- Error 13.

"Recover completion status"

"VSS validation and preprocessing failed for Microsoft Exchange Writer with Error 0x80042301"

Messages in nwfs.raw are (no errors there):

"info cbfs_mount: storage has been mounted and is available to the system."

"info Eldos CFS successfully mounted virtual drive"

"NWFS mount media is complete"

"NWFS server disconnect is starting"

"NWFS server disconnect is complete"

"NWFS unmount media is starting"

"info cbfs_unmount: storage has been un-mounted and is no longer available to the system"

One last point: I have run the emc config checker several times, but it brings no errors.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Regards,

Christian

Hi Christian,

how many resources on your exchange server (RAM,cpu)?

May you monitor Ram and CPU utilization during normal NMM save (backup) ?

GLR requires a lot of resources

Christian,

Have you found anything regarding this matter ? We have the exact same problem. We have the latest and greatest, Networker 8.2.0.1 Build 479 working Exchange 2010 SP3 RU7.

Thanks

Raphael.

Hello Christian,

Did you check the applications, system and Exchange event logs? You will find more information in those logs that will help us to understand better the reason of this failure.

Thank you,

Carlos
