NW 8.1 client: I'd like to backup VSS system components
Hi,
I wanted to backup
VSS SYSTEM SERVICES:\
VSS SYSTEM FILESET:\
VSS SYSTEM BOOT:\
and got "is not defined in this version of Windows"
Then I read about the WINDOWS ROLES AND FEATURES save set is introduced in NetWorker 8.1.
The Admin guide says iIt replaces the VSS SYSTEM BOOT, VSS SYSTEM FILESET and VSS SYSTEM SERVICES save sets.
What do I type for the client saveset attribute?
Typing "WINDOWS ROLES AND FEATURES:\" was not OK. I got no such file or directory.
My Client is 8.1

Yes Andras,
You will have to mention DISASTER_RECOVERY:\ as the saveset to include the system state for backups.

Is there any reason you do not want to use "All" as the saveset ?

Did you use quotes as you typed them? Besides, why not using save set All? If you wish to backup the machine properly, use save set All.

Hi Andras,
In NetWorker 8.1 there are no longer VSS savesets as such when it comes to configure the client and specify the saveset.
Only for Windows 2003 you can still use VSS savesets, otherwise you will need to backup either All or DISASTER RECOVERY: saveset.
In NW 8.1 there is a new saveset introduces called "WINDOWS ROLES AND FEATURES" and it's backed up automatically when you select saveset All or DISASTER RECOVERY, and you will see that at the time of restore.

Hi Carlos,
Did not get how it would look like (your last post)
So "Windows roles and services" is a saveset which I can not select for backup.
I need to select DISASTER_RECOVERY:\ and at the restore I will see WINDOWS ROLES AND SERVICES.
Did I get it correctly?

Then use All and skip directive to skip whatever you do not wish to have (this may work only if what you skip is not seen as critical by the system).
