Problems with RHEL 3.0 AS and DNS Reverse Lookup

Good day,

I had originally posted this in the Linux forum and it was suggested that I post it here, therefore, I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but I have not been very successful in any of my searches. Here are the specifics:

OS: RHEL 3.0 AS
Backup Software: Legato Networker 7.3.2
Client is also RHEL 3.0 AS and runs an Oracle Database.

The error I am receiving and it on 4 servers out of approximately 30, which is why I'm in this forum:

Successful savesets:

:/arclogs NetWorker: Diagnostic: Reverse DNS lookup failed for address 192.168.234.235

I have attempted to find this entry 192.168.234.235 and cannot. I have attempted to ping it and of course, I cannot. I have checked DNS and have confirmed there is no entry for 192.168.234.235.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

During the backup one of interfaces discovered on the system is with IP 192.168.234.235. NW just says that it can't find PTR record for that IP address. It is nothing to worry about as message is diagnostic one only.

Hi,As H says, the client's with the warning in the NetWorker save report have network interfaces which are configured - in as much as the address has been allocated and the OS is reporting the interface is UP. Either re-configure these servers to take down the NICs in question or just add them to the /etc/hosts file on your backup server.IKP

Hi,I think there will be an entry for this in the /etc/hosts file against the server name.delete it.It should work.
