recover from old (99-05) savesets
I've read numerous discussions on methods to recover old data. I'm trying to sift through and determine the method I need to use. First this old setup is using UltraSparc and Solstice Backup 6.1.2Build 340. It also used an SDLT robot and DLT robot. Both are non-functional. So I've now got atleast a single DLT drive connected to the "server". Luckily I've got a solid report from mminfo. Most all Expired and Recycleable savesets. I think my method is to:
1. nsrmm -S XXX -e "sometime" -w "sometime" on the savesets I want to look at
2. nsrmm -S XXX\XXX -o notrecyclable
3. nsrck -L7 -t timeframe -c clientname
then I should be able to "recover -c client -t 00/00/00" to browse and select, right?

The "server" had a 2xDLT700 robot with 15 slots. Then there were 2 other storage nodes. One with 2xSDLT-50slot and one with 4xDLT7000 with 50 slots. If I'm on a storage node and do mminfo, nothing returns. Whereas I get output when running the command from the "server". I've since shutdown the storage nodes and have a single DLT7000 drive on the server now. I've removed all jukeboxes and other old devices from the config and now just have the single drive to work with. I'm working on getting a single SDLT drive on that system also.
I just did an nsrck -L7 -t 12/02/02 client and mounted the needed tape and it read it in. But when I try to browse it tells me there is no index. I must be missing a step.

From your description I just want to confirm if your server and Robot contain the NetWorker server media database as from your description I am not sure.
The articles on Powerlink are for newer versions of NetWorker and the one you quote is quite old. I think you do not need to do the nsrmm work as previously we were able to recover the index etc without having to change browse/retention times - I think this change came in from V7.x onwards.
I think you can just do step 3 from memory.

I have a recover save set going right now from one of my clone tapes, yeah. Now I just need to find a SDLT external drive for sale.
It looks like I just need to do the nsrck -L7 -t 00/00/00 client to pull back in old indexes then set the flags and away I go.
