Steps to Change Tape Library on Networker 7.3.x

Hello All,

Our current Networker version is 7.3.x, and the current tape library is Dell PV136T LTO-3.
One of the manager just bought a new tape library Dell ML6020 LTO-4.
We understand that we must upgrade the current Networker to version 7.4 to be able to support LTO-4.

What is the sequence steps that need to be done for a successful tape library above?
Is the upgrade of Networker to version 7.4 will require reinstallation/upgrade of currently installed Networker Client agents on our servers?

Please kindly advice.
Thanks.

In a Windows environment, you just need to uninstall NMC, run setup for NW 7.4.x and once done install NMC. I would strongly recommend keeping a copy of the nsr folder before upgrading this.

In a non-Windows environment, you would need to uninstall all packages of NW 7.3.x and then install all packages of NW 7.4. You can check 7.4 installation guide for OS specific steps.

If res folder is properly retained you do not need to do anything on the backup server except configuring the new library. On clients also, you should upgrade to NW 7.4 preferably alongwith upgrading the backup server.
