Sybase log shipping and networker backups

Question

Hello, We've got a two host system that comprises production Sybase server and standby Sybase server. They are solaris-based servers.  It all works as this: every night Sybase database is dumped on the production server by using 'dump database' command and datavase dump is transfered to the hot standby server by using scp. On the standby server this dump is restored so that Sybase instance on the standby server is sync'ed with production one. Moreover. in the daytime Sybase transaction logs are dumped on the production server by using 'dump transaction' command and then shipped to the  the standby server and finally applied there so that production and standby server would be in sync in business hours in order to reduce RPO. This scheme works quite smoothly. The problem is I want to take  full and incremental backups from the production Sybase server by using NMDA facility. I presume that my backups would interfere the above mentioned log shipping procedure making all backups mutually inconsistent. Naturally, there are two obvious workarounds: a) take backups of database dumps as plain files and b) backup database from the standby server. Is there any way to configure NMDA module so that the Sybase would remain intact after backup. I.e. no information on full backup, transaction logs are not purged after incremental backup. I know the things I ask about are rather tricky, but I hope NMDA is quite smart for this task.

We do something similar, but via SAP and there is support for such thing (though we use Oracle).  With Sybase alone, I haven't heard of such option.
