telnet not working

Hi experts

We have a client for which the telnet is not working from the networker master backup(bus-nwsrv-02-bu) server.

but from the client end we are able to check ping , telnet , rap connection.

 nsradmin -p nsrexecd -s neslts12nana01
173680:nsradmin: RPC client handle: No route to host.
172089:nsradmin: Unable to create the connection with 'portmapper' to host 'neslts12nana01-bu.cap.local' with address '10.250.39.146' at port number 7938.
173678:nsradmin: Check whether the firewall is blocking the client ports on the host '10.250.39.146'.
143820:nsradmin: Unable to establish RAP connection with neslts12nana01: Remote system error - No route to host
There does not appear to be a nsrexecd server running on neslts12nana01
[root@bus-nwsrv-02-bu pratnaik]# telnet neslts12nana01 7938
Trying 10.250.39.146...
telnet: connect to address 10.250.39.146: No route to host
[root@bus-nwsrv-02-bu ]#

could you please suggest some basic check to fix this issue

as we are new to the networker concept we need suggestion/help here

So did you look at that, whether or not the FW, either in between nw client and nw server or on the NW server or client itself, are interfering?

Instead of telnet, one can also use the NW tools nsrrpinfo (nsrrpcinfo -p <remote-nw_system>) and nsrports commands to validate connectivity. Get to know your NW tools (as also your nsradmin output shows that it cannot communicate with the nw server from client end, clearly stating "Check whether the firewall is blocking the client ports on the host ") and what is required where?

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/networker/nw_p_error_message/unable-to-execute-savefs-job-on-host-hostname-remote-system-error-no-route-to-host?guid=guid-f693991f-bd4c-456d-b33c-38237b61a412&lang=en-us

Unable to execute savefs job on host <hostname>: Remote system error - No route to host

Type

Fatal

Source

nsrexecd

Description

Appears during a scheduled backup when the NetWorker server can reach the client but cannot contact the nsrexecd process to start the savefs process.

Resolution

Ensure that you configure:

  • Any external firewalls between the two hosts to allow communication on the required service ports.
  • A personal firewall on the client, for example iptables on Linux, to allow communication between the two hosts on the required service ports.

to test this conectivity try to use curl -v neslts12nana01. also check hosts file on nw server bus-nwserv-02 if you have it corectly populated with client , use FQDN  in order

IP_Address          FQDN          short_name

check then again connectivity

check also if services are running on the clent neslts12nana01
